Soliloquy
Helloooo everyone! It's been such a long time... I've been extremely "dry" the past couple of weeks since things have been rather mundane. My focus has also been elsewhere, mostly on school and track. My birthday turned out alright, as did my brothers, and I decided that I will be attending SUNY at Geneseo in the fall!!! I went up there last week for an overnight visit program and had such an awesome time. I can't wait to go there and be a part of that community!!!
I have to go to the school's International Night in less than an hour, so I'll cut right to the chase... After a reeeally long dry spell, I was able to write this poem last night. Let's just say Lisa is DEEPLY in love with someone and had to get those emotions out SOMEHOW since she can't tell the guy she likes him...hehhh...
Soliloquy
My room is cluttered-- like my mind.
I'm amazed I can even find
You in the sea of notes and numbers.
Greek letters pouring from my ears,
Tired heart pounding from my fears,
And still I see you through the chaos.
You stand firmly above me,
A silent lighthouse, I can see you--
Your eyes a beacon, always shining,
Always lead me on my way.
When I'm drowning in my mind,
I always manage to find you--
Bright and reliable,
Unchanging, infallable,
Listening to each soliloquy.
My nails are broken-- like my heart.
I'm amazed that you can start
To understand me through the rambling.
Old mem'ries pouring from my eyes,
Shattered, battered, bruised from lies,
And still you hold me tightly...
You stand firmly above me,
A silent lighthouse, I can see you--
Your eyes a beacon, always shining,
Always lead me on my way.
When I'm drowning in my mind,
I always manage to find you--
Bright and reliable,
Unchanging, infallable,
Listening to each soliloquy.
Unwavering, I am savoring
Each day I bask in your prescence.
Never dying, I am flying
As you rid me of pestilence.
Your eyes, the color of this pen,
Have shown and taught me that I can
Soar above this sea of garbage
And face this world of ignorance.
Conflicted like Faust, crazy like Hamlet,
Solitary like Frankenstein,
I thrust myself upon your feet
And beg that you'll be mine,
As much as this sounds like a
Fourth-grade valentine.
You stand firmly above me,
A silent lighthouse, I can see you--
Your eyes a beacon, always shining,
Always lead me on my way.
When I'm drowning in my mind,
I always manage to find you--
Bright and reliable,
Unchanging, infallable,
Listening to each soliloquy.
